Danny Porter graduated from the UGA School of Law in 1981 and began his legal career with the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office. He was elected as Gwinnett District Attorney in 1992.

Danny created a Special Victims Unit, helped lead a massive sting operation against child predators in 2017, and started a Survivors of Homicide support group.

He also helped create an accountability court as an alternative to jail for low-level drug offenses and those who need mental health treatment, and started a pre-trial diversion program for non-violent felonies.
